SSP@50 Fellowship

We’re delighted to support one of The Scottish Society of Playwrights 50th Anniversary Fellowship Awards, which will be offered to innovative, inspiring, boundary-stretching projects that honour, celebrate and promote playwriting in Scotland.

The Awards are open to established and emerging playwrights and theatre makers working in Scottish theatre, and if you want to write on a subject that aligns with one of our biennial programming themes we’d love to hear from you! You don’t need to write a finished play, we’re interested in facilitating research and development without having the pressure to produce. However, if your R&D turns into a play we would obviously look to support its full commission and production.

Our biennial themes are:

2024 - Different Voices, One Team

2025 - Connected Pasts, Creative Futures

Through these we hope to elicit dialogue about:

Diversity in the military

Our often uncomfortable colonial past

The future of warfare and especially ethical questions surrounding new and rapidly developing technologies.
